About

Born from an idea by Italian author Marco Melloni (winner of the Pier Paolo Pasolini Award 2013, Rome, Italy), Voices in the Desert (Voci nel Deserto) is a project that aims to collect fragments of thinking from the past (from literature, theater, and public speeches) in order to Recycle Memory.

A concert of voices from the past, made in several languages, to recycle memory and understand that what it’s true now, was true and important decades as well as centuries ago.

These fragments, coming from literature, theater and public speeches of important International personalities hold deep resonance with current events.

Yet all references to the authors and the time period of origin are given only after the reading of each fragment.

The surprise is that what appear to have been written today, it shows to have been written decades if not centuries ago.

The performance is multi-lingual. Each fragment is read in its original language and sometime in the languages it has been translated in.
